Serial Transfer: data tranferred 1 bit at a time along a single cable. The way I like it.
Parallel transfer: data transferred 8 bits a time through multiple lines concurrently (ribbon cables) ...the way I Don't like it.
Simplex transmission: Data transmission carries information in one direction. i.e. keyboard cable. ...your keyboard doesn't give feedback: it doesn't fire keys at you if you bash it too hard.
Half-duplex transmission: Capable of carry data in both directions ...though only one at a time. (this one is a bit like me. Lazy)
Full-Duple Transmission: This cable is able to carry data in both directions at the same time. (What i'm meant to be ._. but am not)
RS-232 port: Converts from parallel to serial (i.e. 8 bits received but converted to one bit at a time) These things make my life a little easier to digest.

Yep, this is how I study. It what makes my brain work by comparing it to things in life. I remember it easier if I can imagine them as concepts in my life.
At the moment however, I am in the mood for parallel transfer. Hyper up and able to face ANYTHING. W00. It's just that at the mo, there's nothing to face. So I'm gonna go and kick that rs-232 port out of the way and see what it has in store for me. No more am I stuck facing one thing at a time in serial transfer. bring it On. Huzzah :D See?
I love IT. Too bad it isn't running next year.
